About The Role

First Team Performance Analyst

Salary: £ Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent, full time (40 hours)

Team: First Team

Reports To: Head Coach

Location: Various SCFC sites across Manchester and Salford including the Peninsula Stadium.

 

The Purpose:

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record as a Performance Analyst within an elite football environment to join Salford City FC Men’s First Team. In this role, you will enhance the thoroughness of First Team Analysis provision to continually support our Head Coach, Assistant Coaches and Players. Leading the performance analysis department, you will strive to deliver actionable insight through video and data in the most efficient manner with the aim to improve on-field performance. 

 

The Role:

  • Oversee the Club’s Analysis department.
  • Lead the preparation of all upcoming opposition analysis, providing footage and insights to coaching staff.
  • Lead the preparation of all live, post-match team, unit, and individual analysis.
  • Film and code training sessions to aid with pre-match preparations.
  • Create detailed analysis presentations to facilitate game plan and game review creation.
  • Provide set piece analysis, databasing and the researching of best practice for set pieces.
  • Provide penalty taker analysis for upcoming opponents.
  • Attend all first team matches (home and away) to provide live feedback to the coaching staff on the bench.
  • Provide matchday Pre, Live, Half Time and post-match tactical and positional analysis.
  • Responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and delivering feedback and support to players, coaches and the wider multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Produce post-match videos and reports for coaching staff.
  • Support players with video and data to enhance off the field learning to increase on field performances.
  • Work with data to provide squad benchmarking analysis across the EFL and assist with preparation on the opposition.
  • Support the Recruitment Team by providing detailed analysis on targets including statistical benchmarking.
  • Ensure the club is up-to-date with the latest software, hardware and advances in technology.
  • Provide guidance to all staff at the Club in relation to performance analysis.
  • Ensure the production of all video/statistical based information any key meetings.
  • You may also be required to assist and support match day logistics, as well as complete additional ad-hoc requests, subject to the needs of the Head Coach. 
About The Candidate

The Person:

  • Can evidence a portfolio of work, demonstrating an ability to work with performance analysis software to build, maintain and display output that enhances analysis and player recruitment.
  • Excellent understanding of performance analysis including the ability to quickly pick up a playing philosophy, and the technical / tactical analysis of teams and individuals.
  • Experience working with event data to pull relevant information for our coaching staff and players (pre- and post-match).
  • Expert knowledge of video editing and telestration of footage.
  • Extremely organised and methodical, able to work to tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to communicate complex data to a variety of audiences and implement a variety of feedback techniques.

 

You will have experience of performance analysis in a sporting environment, particularly supporting both coaching and recruitment staff. You will be able to effectively collaborate with other department members to ensure that the analysis undertaken is thorough and detailed, whilst maintaining relevance and clarity when presenting your findings to key stakeholders. 

 

With effective communication skills, your experience will include presenting information to key stakeholders in a variety of settings, enabling your work to provide maximum clarity.  You will have a detailed understanding of how to interpret and utilise data, providing relevance and substance to aid the coaching process.

 

You will have detailed football knowledge and tactical understanding. In particular, you will have the ability to demonstrate how this can be applied in a practical setting, aligning to a specific club philosophy. You will have the ability to showcase your skills to prioritise workloads in a demanding environment whilst striving to produce work of the highest standard. 

 

With a high level of computer competency, you will have extensive experience of using performance analysis and presentation-based software. You’ll also have experience of using a drone to film training.

 

You must be able to work all home and away fixtures. The role requires a high degree of flexibility throughout the week and as such you should be prepared to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis. Flexibility is key due to training and matches potentially changing at short notice.

 

You will need a full, clean driving licence.

 

The Essentials:

  • Experience working within an elite playing environment
  • A degree or similar qualification in Sports Science, Sport Studies, Coaching or Performance Analysis
  • Level 2 FA Coaching qualification (desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS Clearance
  • FA Safeguarding qualification
  • Valid safeguarding certificates
  • Experience in undertaking health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

 

The Club actively encourages Continuous Professional Development and would expect the successful candidate to ensure they are keeping updated with new theory and legislation, attend any necessary FA in-service training, and participate in a program of CPD across the Academy’s technical teams.
