Job Description
Academy Coach (Part Time)
Location: The County Ground, with the ability to travel to other training facilities
Reports to: Academy Head of Coach Development & Youth Development Phase Coach
Part-time contract – 20-30 hours per week
Salary: hourly rate in line with the National Living Wage
Overall purpose of the job
To enhance the football and holistic development of the players in the youth development phase within a specific YDP age group. Manage the technical and tactical advancement (individual and team) of the players in conjunction with the relative age group coaches.
Responsible for the planning and implementation of individual learning plans in line with club coaching and playing philosophy.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Personal Development
Undertake self-development to ensure knowledge in relation to all aspect of your role is up-to-date and forward thinking:
- Complete FA CPD as required to keep your FAN/Licence up to date
- Complete club CPD and qualifications as part of your on-going development action plan
Coaching Curriculum, Playing and Coaching Philosophy
- Ensure the academy’s coaching curriculum is consistently delivered in line with the academy’s playing philosophy and coaching philosophy
- Design and implement age-appropriate sessions that provide maximal opportunity for players to practice, develop and learn.
- Lead on-grass delivery of sessions and games
Games Programme
- Support the lead phase in designing a varied and consistent games programme
- Maximise playing minutes and opportunities
Individual Learning Plan Design and Delivery
- Design practices that allow players to practice their IDP’s
- Working with the Youth development phase lead design and deliver ILPs
- Create an MDT approach to enhance each individual’s performance on and off the grass
- Manage player transitions into and from the cell/age group (player handovers, inductions, player signings, transition across a player journey)
Feedback
- Provide regular updates to the phase lead to support the MDT review process
- Complete and deliver feedback to staff and players/parents in line with the club's processes and protocols:
- MDT review meetings every 6 weeks
- Parent & Player reviews every 6 weeks
- Session plans, evaluations and player data (FiP)
Performance Analysis
- Provide data & video evidence to support the development and measurement of performance
- Independently clip/tag and share video footage related to the match objectives & game review
- Independently clip/tag and share video footage related to a player's ILP
- Support players compile ‘Me at my best’ playlists
Facilities & Equipment
- Adhere to all match day and training protocols
- Responsible for all kit and equipment related to the cell/phase. Manage Staff
- Manage other part-time/casual coaches in the cell to deliver the youth development programme.
Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post and to assist the Academy Director.
