Job Title: Sport Science Lead (9–16) Location: Bradford City Football Club Academy, BD10 0NR Department: Academy Reports into: Academy Sport Science Lead Key Relationships: Coaching Staff, Medical Staff, Designated Safeguarding Officer

Bradford City Academy is seeking a committed and driven Part‑Time Academy Sport Science Lead (9–16) to deliver and oversee the physical development programme for players in the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase. Working under the guidance of the Academy Sport Science Lead, this role plays a vital part in ensuring age‑appropriate, evidence‑led training that supports the long‑term athletic development of young players.

Purpose and Objectives

  • Lead the design and delivery of the physical development curriculum for players aged 9–16.

  • Plan and deliver pitch‑ and gym‑based physical development sessions aligned with coaching objectives.

  • Implement growth, maturation and physical testing protocols in line with EPPP standards.

  • Conduct regular physical testing and monitoring (anthropometrics, movement screens, fitness testing).

  • Manage and interpret player data, providing insights to coaches and MDTs on physical trends and development.

  • Collaborate with coaches to integrate physical development into football sessions.

  • Provide individualised support and programming based on player needs and stage of development.

  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of all testing, training and individual player plans.

  • Report regularly to the Academy Sport Science Lead on progress, concerns and development opportunities.

  • Contribute to MDT discussions and player reviews.

  • Work within and adhere to all Academy policies and procedures.

  • Build positive working relationships with players, parents and staff.

  • Undertake all reasonable duties that support the Academy as requested.

About The Candidate

Skills and Qualifications

  • BSc in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or a related discipline

  • Experience working with youth athletes in a sport science or strength & conditioning capacity

  • Valid driving licence

  • Enhanced DBS disclosure (satisfactory)
