About The Role

Are you passionate about developing the next generation of elite goalkeepers? Burton Albion FC is seeking Academy Casual Goalkeeping Coaches to join our team at The Pirelli Stadium and Academy training grounds.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with the Academy Head of Coaching to deliver engaging, high-quality training sessions for goalkeepers aged 9–16. You’ll be responsible for implementing the Academy’s goalkeeping curriculum, monitoring player progress, and providing regular feedback through detailed player profiles and review reports. Your expertise will help shape individual training plans, develop fitness programmes in collaboration with sports science staff, and ensure all coaching aligns with the club’s playing philosophy.

You’ll also play a key part in identifying and recruiting talented young goalkeepers, contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings, and continually reviewing and enhancing the coaching programme to meet the needs of each player. Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding, equality, and club values is essential.

What we’re looking for:

  • UEFA ‘B’ Licence and FA Goalkeeping ‘B’ Licence (or working towards)
  • Experience coaching at Academy level within professional football
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion

About The Candidate

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

  • UEFA ‘B’ Licence
  • FA Goalkeeping ‘B’ licence
  • FA Youth Award (Assessed in relevant age range).
  • EFAiF qualification in first aid.
  • A current FA/FAW Safeguarding Children Workshop Certificate (or willingness to complete within 1 month of appointment)

    Person Specification – Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience of working within professional football at Academy level with good understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
  • Outstanding communication skills with a view to being able to speak with parents, coaches, players and contacts
  • Strong organisational skills and competent in administrative duties.
  • Enthusiasm for the role and a proactive thinker who always looks for opportunities to improve and enhance the coaching strategy
  • A dynamic, hardworking individual that is able to relate to all staff members and participants engaged in Academy activities
  • Is receptive to feedback about own behaviour, strengths and areas for improvement that identifies improvement strategies relating to Academy coaching/recruitment activities
  • Displays a high level of confidentiality and transparency and is able to contribute to team meetings in a professional manner
  • Committed to, and an understanding of, equality and diversity in sport
  • Flexible approach to meet the nature and demands of the business 
  • Ability to meet the travel needs of the post (which includes travel across the UK and occasionally overseas)
