About The Role

Social Media Lead

Salary: Competitive depending on skills and experience

Contract Type: Permanent, full time (40 hours)

Team: Commercial 

Location: Various SCFC sites across Manchester and Salford.

 

The Purpose:

 

Salford City FC is looking for a bold and imaginative Social Media Lead to elevate our digital presence and bring our brand to life across every platform. This is a hands-on, content-driven role where creativity meets execution. You’ll be the driving force behind our social output, shaping and delivering standout content that engages fans, amplifies our values and sets us apart as an open and forward-thinking club. You’ll play a key role in executing our social strategy while helping to refine and evolve it, ensuring every post, story and campaign reflects the energy, ambition, and authenticity of Salford City FC.

 

The Role:

 

  • Responsible for the execution of our content strategy including the delivery of the club’s social media plan as directed by the Chief Business Officer.
  • Manage the end-to-end production of social content: filming, editing, posting, and scheduling.
  • Capture real-time content on matchdays, training, and behind-the-scenes settings.
  • Ensure all output drives traffic and audience growth towards YouTube as the club’s premium content channel.
  • Responsible for all content creation an publishing which includes:
    • Producing short-form, engaging content across TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
    • Publishing long-form content in collaboration with the club’s video production unit.
    • Editing content to fit platform-specific styles and trends.
  • Responsible for community growth and engagement through actively engaging with fans online, managing day-to-day interactions and building loyalty.
  • Deliver interactive campaigns that make fans feel closer to the team and club journey.
  • Execute content that activates sponsorships, partners, and commercial campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and commercial teams to ensure social media output supports ticketing, merchandise, and hospitality sales.
  • Be proactive in spotting opportunities for live and reactive content and bring fresh ideas to how we present football moments and behind-the-scenes access.
  • Keep across new formats and trends to ensure Salford City maintains a strong digital presence.
  • Leverage platforms such a TikTok to ensure Salford City is part of the cultural conversation
  • Lead a small team of social media staff/freelancers to ensure consistent output.
  • Track performance analytics and feed back into the Chief Business Officer for reporting.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with the wider club objectives.

About The Candidate

  • Proven experience in executing social media output within football, sport, or entertainment.
  • Skilled in video production, editing, and platform-specific storytelling.
  • Ability to be creative in finding ways to engage the fan community through creation of a unique, funny, passionate and honest tone of voice.
  • Strong understanding of TikTok videos, Instagram reels and YouTube shorts – including how to leverage native tools, tap into trends, and leverage platform insights to further storytelling capabilities.

 

We’re looking for a creative, curious and collaborative individual who thrives in fast-paced, high-access environments and brings energy, initiative, and emotional intelligence to every moment. The successful candidate will lead day-to-day social media output, working closely with the content team to maximise distribution across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X. There may also be opportunities to launch on other channels over time.

 

You’ll be hands-on, highly adaptable and comfortable capturing content in dressing rooms, on the training ground, and during live matchday action, while staying attuned to the tone and timing that make great social storytelling. Creative thinking around ways to elevate club content for social channels is a must. The Club is producing a groundbreaking real-time docuseries This Is Salford. You will play a crucial role in extending the distribution of this in a way that helps drive fan engagement, supports commercial activity and tells the stories running through the heartbeat of the club.

 

You’ll think strategically and act swiftly, with a sharp eye for elevating content and an excellent understanding of how social media drives fan engagement, brand visibility, and commercial impact.

 

Working closely with colleagues across content, marketing, football and commercial teams, you’ll approach every challenge with a solutions-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.

 

Success in this role means showing up with creativity, consistency, and care by delivering high-quality output, growing our digital community, and helping Salford City FC stand out as one of the most open and innovative clubs in the game. This includes rapid growth in followers, subscribers, and engagement as well as seamlessly integrating commercial campaigns into social media.

 

This role requires a degree of flexibility, with evening and weekend work expected to support matchdays and content production. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable adapting to the rhythm of the football calendar and thrives in dynamic environments. Your commitment to delivering exceptional online experiences will sometimes extend beyond standard office hours, and we’ll ensure you’re supported to do so in a way that’s balanced and rewarding.

 

You’ll need a full, clean driving licence for the role and the ability to travel when needed.
