Designated Safeguarding Officer
About The Role
Role and Responsibilities
Working with others within the Club to create a positive, child-centred environment within the sport
Play a lead role in developing and establishing the organisation’s approach to safeguarding children and young people – a key role within the organisation
Manage cases of poor practice and abuse reported to the organisation – be the key administrator for the electronic management system
Manage referrals to children’s social-care services and the police
Central point of contact for internal and external individuals and agencies
Represent the organisation at external meetings related to safeguarding
Raise and distribute all policy, procedures and resources throughout the organisation
Advise on the organisation’s training needs and the development of its training strategy; provide safeguarding training where appropriat
Play a lead role in maintaining and reviewing the club’s implementation plan/strategy for safeguarding and protecting children
Attend all 1
st
team home fixtures giving safeguarding support as required by the Matchday Safety Officer
Ensure safeguarding standards are met and maintained
Commit to all PGAAC and Barnardos requirements
Keep own knowledge and skills up-to-date Skills and abilities
Observe Fixtures across all phases and give feedback to staff in a safeguarding capacity
Create and design pathways and transitions across all phases by supporting Player Care Lead
Attend all EFL Area Safeguarding Meetings and commit to all necessary and associated training and courses
Lead all safeguarding investigations
Attend and contribute to AMT meetings
Process all DBS Applications for mandatory staff across the Club and Academy
Ensure that Safer Recruitment requirements are met
Commit to all EDI requirements across the club and academy
About The Candidate
Essentials
Previous safeguarding knowledge
Previous experience of working with young people
Commitment to continual learning
Desirable
Previous safeguarding experience in a professional sport setting
Clean driving licence
