About The Role

Role Purpose
To be responsible for the physical condition and development of all first team players.  The post-holder will be expected to attend First Team fixtures (home and/or away) where requested to assist pre-match preparation, match cover and post-match assessments/treatments. 
 
Main areas of responsibility
  • Plan and deliver physical preparation and development programmes, with a particular focus on the maintenance and enhancement of strength and power qualities for all first team players.
  • Work closely with the Head of Sports Science and Lead Physiotherapist to ensure the delivery of a service the effectively meets the objectives and needs of the department.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of work completed/session attendance and track player performance to inform programming.
  • Interpretation of strength and power testing.
  • Manage strength and power testing software systems (VALD, Teambuilder, Output, Apollo).
  • Communicate with Sport Science and Medical department on all aspects of player physical development.
  • Assist the medical department with the rehabilitation of injured players with a specific responsibility for delivering late-stage physical development.
  • Assist the Head of Sports Science with the delivery of field-based conditioning and rehabilitation sessions as required.
  • Lead Goalkeepers physical performance with bespoke on-field and gym based programming.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the Head of Medical Services.

About The Candidate

Essential Requirements
 
Qualifications
  • BSc in Sport and Exercise Science or related discipline.
  • Experience working in elite sport or high-performance environments, ideally football.
  • Strong data analysis and visualisation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with coaches and athletes.
 Experience
  • Experience working with team based sports, ideally football, and be able to display a strong understanding of the physical and skill demands of the sport.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualities
  • Detailed understanding of football and the ability to apply that knowledge to aid performance and provide actionable solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to organise, schedule and adapt to meet conflicting deadlines and respond to changing situations.
  • Proactively identifies and builds sustainable relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Team working.
  • Pro-active approach to personal development.
Desirable Requirements
 
Qualifications
  • UKSCA accreditation.
  • Postgraduate degree in a field related to physical performance.
 Experience
  • A highly skilled coach who displays creativity, adaptability and the self-awareness to utilise a variety of different coaching styles.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualities
  • An ability to utilise performance related data to inform practice.
  • An ability to provide insight to players, coaches and MDT derived from profiling, monitoring, training and competition data.
