About The Role

Role Purpose
To ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all electrical systems across Bolton Wanderers' facilities, including the stadium, training ground, offices, and associated buildings.  The role involves the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of electrical infrastructure to support matchday operations, training sessions, corporate events, and day-to-day club activities.  The electrician will be a key member of the on-site maintenance team, working collaboratively with colleagues and sub-contractors to uphold high standards across the estate.
 
Main areas of responsibility
  • Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Conduct regular planned inspections and reactive maintenance including stadium wiring, lighting, power distribution and back up generators.
  • Matchday/Event Support: Conduct and record pre-match electrical checks including floodlights, turnstiles, scoreboards, hospitality suites, and emergency lighting systems.  Provide prompt fault response during live events.
  • Installations & Upgrades: Collaborate on upgrades or installations of new electrical equipment as part of facilities development or CAPEX projects.
  • Compliance & Testing, this is a desirable qualification: Perform and document testing and certification in line with BS 7671 (IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and maintain records for health and safety compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside facility and contractor teams - including Head of Facilities or stadium safety - to support operations, especially on matchdays.
  • Emergency Systems Oversight: Maintain emergency lighting, fire alarms, standby power systems.  Conduct test drills and issue reports as needed.

About The Candidate

Essential Requirements
 
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Part 1 & 2 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671) certification.
 Experience
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and electrical testing experience.
  • Experience working in commercial, FM, or large-scale event venues.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualities
  • Comfortable working flexible hours when required, including evenings, weekends and match days at the stadium.
  • Resilient.
  • Creative.
  • Organised.
Desirable Requirements
 
Qualifications
  • Additional City & Guilds certifications, e.g. 2391 Inspection & Testing, AM2.
  • PAT testing accreditation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
 Experience
  • Previous experience in sports or entertainment venues.
  • Experience of using Building Management Systems.
  • Previous experience of networks which include generators and their associated controls.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualities
  • Familiarity with floodlighting systems, broadcast infrastructure or stadium PA systems.
  • Problem solving.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, you will play a key role in ensuring that all electrical systems, from floodlighting and public address systems to emergency and harness lighting, operate safely and reliably throughout match days, events, and daily maintenance routines.
