Placement Description:
The role of Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Coach at Walsall Football Club offers a hands-on opportunity to assist in delivering both on-field physical conditioning and gym-based strength and conditioning support to youth players. This position is ideal for undergraduates, postgraduates, or individuals already qualified in Sports Science or Strength and Conditioning. Volunteers will gain invaluable practical experience in a professional football environment while assisting with player development and injury prevention.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of conditioning programs for youth players.
- Work closely with youth players to enhance their strength, speed, and overall physical development.
- Deliver gym and pitch-based athletic development sessions.
- Support internal and external load monitoring through GPS technology, working with the Player Development Program (PDP).
- Learn how to interpret and collate GPS data using relevant software to produce objective reports for coaching staff.
- Lead warm-ups, cool-downs, and recovery sessions to optimize performance and minimize injury risk.
- Assist in developing and implementing injury prevention programs for players.
- Monitor player progress through assessments, testing, and data analysis, adjusting training programs as necessary.
- Educate youth players on the importance of physical preparation, nutrition, and recovery to improve overall performance.
- Maintain a professional and motivating training environment.
- Provide coaching support during training sessions and matchdays as required.
