About The Role

Role Title: Part-Time Academy Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist
Department: Academy
Reports to: Head of Academy Physiotherapy
Key Internal Relationships: Head of Academy Physiotherapy, Academy Head Coaches, Physiotherapists, Academy Players

Job Description:

The role involves delivering direct hands-on treatment and rehabilitation services during two evening sessions each week. Additionally, you will provide essential pitch-side first aid cover at all Academy home matches held every Sunday. You will work collaboratively with the Head of Academy Physiotherapy, coaching staff, and other medical professionals to support the health, welfare, and performance of Academy players, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and injury management.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver tailored treatment and rehabilitation programmes for Academy players.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage injury rehabilitation for academy footballers.
  • Provide pitch-side first aid cover at all Academy home matches (every Sunday).
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using PMA, the Academy’s medical notes system.
  • Collaborate with coaching and medical staff to communicate player treatment plans and rehabilitation progress.
  • Review and adapt injury management strategies to meet player and squad needs.
  • Attend meetings/screening to provide medical insights and support player welfare.

About The Candidate

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • BSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or relevant degree
  • Registered with CSP and HCPC (for Physiotherapists)
  • Valid FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) or equivalent pitch-side first aid qualification
  • Enhanced FA DBS check clearance
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build excellent team relationships
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Reliable and committed to working evenings and Sundays
  • Understanding and commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies

Desirable:

  • Experience in a sporting environment
  • Understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP)
  • Familiarity with football-specific medical software such as PMA or Benchmark 54
  • FA Safeguarding Children Qualification
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
