Birmingham City FC is looking for an experienced and driven Head of Academy Physiotherapy to oversee and manage the delivery of physiotherapy services for all Academy players. You will lead the physiotherapy department, ensuring the highest standards of player care and rehabilitation, while collaborating with the wider Performance Support Team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide physiotherapy services and rehabilitation for all Academy players
- Lead the Performance Support MDT and attend all professional development events
- Engage in the competency framework and appraisal process
- Monitor the wellbeing of Academy players, liaising with the Club Safeguarding Team
- Ensure compliance with policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate the Academy Physiotherapy programme in collaboration with the Performance Support MDT
- Work with the MDT to optimise Academy players' performance across all levels
- Line manage physiotherapy staff, ensuring duties are met
- Design, review, and evaluate medical strategy and objectives within the Academy Performance Plan
- Contribute to the leadership and management of the Academy
- Monitor ISO audit criteria and manage physiotherapy and medical expenditure
- Ensure staff qualifications are up to date and in line with governing regulations
- Oversee the delivery of the physiotherapy syllabus across development phases
- Maintain a comprehensive database of medical data using Kitman Labs and SharePoint
- Provide guidance and support to physiotherapy staff to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Ensure the delivery of a cohesive physiotherapy provision across the Academy
- Manage injury assessments, medical records, and confidentiality
- Coordinate medical cover for training and match day fixtures for U9-U21 teams
- Contribute to player performance reviews and support coaches and players across the Academy
- Continuously drive improvements and implement positive changes within the programme
- Monitor ongoing professional development and trauma qualifications for staff
- Carry out any other duties as required by the Academy Manager and Head of Academy Performance Support
What we're looking for in you:
Essential Requirements:
- HCPC registered physiotherapist or member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Recent CPD evidence and a comprehensive CPD portfolio
- Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong computer literacy, organisational and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage and deliver physiotherapy services to the highest standard
Desirable Requirements:
- MSc in Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation or equivalent
- UK Strength and Conditioning Association Accreditation (ASCC)
- Over 3 years of experience leading a physiotherapy department within an MDT
- Valid driving licence

Terms of Appointment:
- 37.5 hours per week, with flexible hours as required
