About The Role

JOB PURPOSE

The main objective is to maintain the facilities at the Wrexham AFC Academy Facility at Darland Park.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain the sports facilities in accordance with the annual maintenance programme;
  • Maintain general landscaping areas as directed by Head Groundsperson;
  • Liaise with Head Groundsperson and others to support planned facility use and ensure required standards are achieved;
  • Maintain and operate pitch irrigation systems;
  • Undertake minor and routine maintenance of building(s) as directed;
  • Be fully knowledgeable of and adhere to the health and safety regulations in the area of responsibility;
  • Possess a thorough understanding of legislation relating to chemicals and dangerous substances;
  • Check facilities, plant buildings and equipment to ensure safe working practices and health and safety legislation compliance;
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are correctly stored, maintained and serviced;
  • Actively promote safe practices of self and others;
  • Conduct basic risk assessments, develop contingency plans and be able to respond to emergencies;
  • Support the efficient use of resources; deputising for the Head Groundsperson as required;
  • Any other duties as requested
About The Candidate

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • At least an NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Sports Turf/Greenkeeping
  • At least one year’s experience of working within a sports turf environment is desirable.
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying qualifications would be useful

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – SKILLS / ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent planning, organisation and time management skill with the ability to multi-task and have attention to detail,
  • Reliable and understands and practices confidentiality;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility where necessary; and to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to work to high standards, flexible, with an ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure;
