About The Role
To carry out midweek evening and weekend matchday pitch side medical cover for all Oxford United Football Club Academy home and away games, as designated by the department and in line with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
 
Mid-Week Evening Training
  • arrive at least 15 minutes before session scheduled start time.
  • To provide pitch side medical cover and injury rehabilitation for all Academy players as dictated by Head of Academy Medical Services.
  • Ensure all medical emergency equipment is checked and placed in the designated position pitch side.
  • To carry out any pre-session assessments for Academy players, as and when required.
  • To implement required first aid/acute injury management during training as required in line with Academy and ITMMiF first aid trauma guidelines.
  • To assess and treat any injuries during sessions ensuring an evidence-based rehabilitation plan is in place for each injured player.
  • To communicate player injury, treatment details and follow up plan to the players parents and coach.
  • To ensure a thorough and detailed handover is sent to the Head of Academy Medical Services upon completion of training.
  • To complete and send medical notes to the Head of Academy Medical Services in line with HCPC and CSP guidelines within 24 hours of intervention.
Weekend Matchday Cover
  • Arrive at least 90 minutes before kick-off.
  • To provide pitch side medical cover for all Academy home and away games as dictated by Head of Academy Medical Services.
  • Ensure all medical emergency equipment is checked and placed in the designated position pitch side.
  • To carry out and pre-match assessments for Academy players, as and when required.
  • To implement required first aid/acute injury management during training as required in line with Academy and ITMMiF first aid trauma guidelines.
  • To assess and treat any injuries post game and ensure an appropriate acute injury management plan is in place for each injured player.
  • To communicate player injury, treatment details and follow up plan to the players' parent(s) and coach.
  • To ensure a thorough and detailed handover is sent to the Head of Academy Medical Services upon completion of matches.
  • To complete and send medical notes to the Head of Academy Medical Services in line with HCPC and CSP guidelines within 24 hours of interventions.
  • All employees may be required to undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested.
 
 
About The Candidate
Key Requirements
  • Minimum of BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy.
  • HCPC or SST accredited practitioner.
  • Up to date Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Confident, self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with players, parents and staff.
  • Sound knowledge of manual therapy skills and sports rehabilitation.
  • Sound knowledge of injury prevention methods and recovery strategies.
  • Ability to educate, advise and motivate individuals.
  • Preferably experience in an elite sports environment, especially with children and adolescents.
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge of the current evidence base and implement this within their practice.
  • Candidates must be flexible and be willing to work hours as necessary to carry out their duties.  This may include covering matches and changing of venues at short notice.
  • Candidate will need to perform duties at home match and away match venues, with the possibility of travel abroad, if necessary.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be advantageous.
