About The Role

To deliver and develop high quality Further Education provision within the Centre of Sporting Excellence partnership between Preston North End Community and Education Trust and Preston College.

The tutor will support the education and employment pillar by providing opportunities, raising aspirations and fulfilling potential for learners aged 16 to 19. Through the delivery of level 1 to level 3 sport qualifications, the post holder will enable learners to achieve recognised qualifications, develop employability and life skills, and progress into higher education, apprenticeships, employment or performance pathways.

The role requires close collaboration with Preston College to ensure curriculum planning, assessment, quality assurance and compliance standards are consistently met. The tutor will contribute to recruitment, retention, achievement and positive destinations, while maintaining high expectations around attendance, behaviour, professionalism and safeguarding within a professional sporting environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and assess high quality lessons across level 1, 2 and 3 programmes in line with awarding body and partner standards.
  • Conduct tutorial activities, both academic and pastoral, ensuring learners are supported holistically.
  • Undertake a football coaching role to support learner participation in the EFL Community and Education Football Alliance and wider enrichment activity.
  • Plan and support educational visits, enrichment activities and overseas trips where required.
  • Build and maintain strong links with secondary schools to increase recruitment and showcase programme success, including attendance at open evenings, taster sessions and learner interviews.
  • Collaborate with college staff, parents and support services to ensure coordinated learner support.
  • Uphold the values and safeguarding standards of PNECET, maintaining a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment at all times.

About The Candidate

 Qualifications essential to the role.

Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent recognised FE teaching qualification, or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe.

A degree or equivalent qualification in Sport, Coaching, Physical Education or a related discipline.

NGB Level 2 Football Coaching qualification or equivalent appropriate to competitive league delivery.

Five GCSE's at grade 4 or above.

Skills And Experience

Proven experience delivering Further Education programmes to 16 to 19 year olds, including planning, delivering and assessing accredited qualifications.

Experience in football coaching and supporting competitive fixtures within a structured league environment.

Ability to build effective relationships with schools, employers, college colleagues and parents to support recruitment and progression.

Ability to monitor learner performance, track progress and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Strong classroom management and pastoral capability, including tutorial delivery and learner intervention.

Knowledge

A strong working knowledge of the current Ofsted framework and expectations within Further Education.

A clear understanding of awarding body standards, assessment regulations and internal verification processes.

A strong working knowledge of safeguarding legislation, equality, diversity and inclusion practice appropriate to a youth education and sporting environment, including

Familiarity with the structure, expectations and conduct standards of the EFL Community and Education Football Alliance.

Knowledge of post 16 progression pathways including higher education, apprenticeships and employment routes.

Ability to motivate and inspire learners to achieve their full potential and deliver outstanding results

Knowledge of health and safety requirements across classroom, gym and football settings, ensuring learners are supported in safe learning and participation environment.
