About The Role

Role Purpose
The Community Engagement Officer will work across our community programmes including social inclusion projects such as Premier League Kicks sessions, Disability sports sessions and Health and wellbeing sessions for people of all ages.
Main areas of responsibility
  • To work on our projects and help support disadvantaged young people and adults across Bolton through football, multi-sport and health and wellbeing sessions.
  • To maintain effective records of work undertaken with beneficiaries for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation.  These may include registers, case studies and any other records.
  • Be sensitive and supportive to the needs of participants, and signpost additional support where appropriate.
General Responsibilities
  • Actively demonstrate and promote BWitC's values through your work.
  • Take responsibility for your own health, safety, and welfare, ensuring compliance with BWitC's Health and Safety Policy, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position as may be allocated by the BWitC Director from time to time.
  • Ensure compliance with all BWitC codes of conduct, policies, and procedures contained within the employee handbook, with particular attention to Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety.
  • Ensure that safeguarding remains central to all planning, decision-making, and delivery.
  • Ensure that BWitC policies, procedures, and working practices are upheld and consistently followed.
  • Champion BWitC's commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all, and always act in a way that prevents and challenges discrimination or harassment.

About The Candidate

Ability & Skills:
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisation, planning and record keeping skills.
  • A passion to strive for continual improvement and a commitment to delivering a quality service.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
Essential Criteria:
  • Experience of working with young people as individuals or within groups.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel locally to sessions.
 Desirable (not required):
  • Level 1 / Introduction to Coaching Football (FA)
  • Youth work qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Youth Work, Sports Coaching, or similar)
Special Attributes:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with the individual.
  • A caring and empathetic attitude.
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • The ability to prepare and deliver sessions that are appropriate to disadvantaged communities.
