About The Role

Cheltenham Town Football Club is looking to recruit a creative individual to become our new Media and Communications Manager on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will the lead the Club’s media and communications department, engaging with supporters and other key stakeholders.

Based mainly at the EV Charger Points Stadium and the Smarta Energy Training Ground, you will lead and manage all digital content across the Club’s website and social media channels as well as organise all press operations for first-team staff and players.

With a keen eye for detail and a passion for football, the successful candidate will be a strong copywriter and responsible for managing all aspects of media at Cheltenham Town.

A relevant degree in media, journalism or marketing is desired.

Hours & Availability: Full-Time. A flexible approach to working hours will be required as this role includes unsociable hours and working on a match days (home and away) for which time off in lieu can be given.

Reporting to: Head of Commercial Operations

Salary: Dependent on relevant experience

Core responsibilities you will cover as part of this role include:

•            Lead and manage all digital content across the Club’s social media channels (X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, LinkedIn) to include match coverage, video features and social media.

•            Overall management of the official Club website using the EFL content management system to produce daily news, features and interviews.

•            Organisation of the Club’s press operation (e.g. pre and post-match, and special events). Liaison with local and national media representatives, facilitation of interviews and photographs for accredited media organisations.

•            Handling of media general enquiries and manage matchday media accreditation using IPBS system for home and away matches.

•            Attend all first team fixtures, home and away, to support the manager and players with media obligations.

•            Work closely with the Head of Commercial Operations and Commercial Manager to ensure that the communication output aligns with marketing and revenue-generating objectives.

•            Support the commercial team, helping to create effective and impactful campaigns to promote the club alongside its partners.

•            Promote positive working relationships between the Media Department and other departments within the organisation including Community, Academy and Ladies team.

•            Work closely with all areas of the club including Commercial, Ticketing , Retail and Hospitality to ensure key messages are being delivered.

•            Recruitment and management of interns from the University of Gloucestershire.

•            Liaise with Football League Media Department and attend meetings and seminars as required.

About The Candidate

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

•            Demonstrable experience in content creation and communications coordination.

•            Excellent understanding of social and traditional media.

•            Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

•            Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and manage the media demands associated with a forward-thinking EFL club.

•            The ability to create, manage and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

•            A solid understanding of Cheltenham Town Football Club and desire to play a key role in the club’s strategy.

•            Driven, ambitious and an ability to think on your feet and able to work in pressure situations.

•            Proficiency in content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite or similar).

•            Experience in videography and basic video editing is desired.

•            An ability to work to tight constraints and balance multiple tasks all at once.

•            Prior experience of working in the sports media industry.

Candidates should have access to their own vehicle and have a full driving licence (expenses received for related match day travel costs).
