About The Role

Responsible to: Daniel Mlinar (Head of Academy Coaching)

Salary: £20.00 per hour (9 hours per week pro rata)

Location: Well Hall Training Ground, Kidbrooke Lane, Eltham, SE9 6TE            

Hours of work: Tuesday, Wednesday 5.00-7.00pm, Saturday 9.00-11.00am & Sunday fixtures

 

Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Millwall Football Club of the English Football League for a part time U13s Lead Coach to support in the delivery technical content of its Academy U13s players at our training ground facility in Eltham.

The primary focus of the Lead U13s coach will be to play a key role in delivering the How We Play, Coach and Support strategies of Millwall Football Academy, to aid our U13s player development, as well as leading on the play-do-review process of the U13s training & matchday programs. 

The lead coach will assed upon planning and delivering high quality training and matchday programs to develop all our U13s players, as well as aiding the support of our players through individual development plans, and our academy review process.

The successful candidate will play a supporting role in developing all YDP players & the phase in connection with department lead and will have to be able to build and formulise relationships with players and their families to support their academy journey.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Uphold and demonstrate the values, standards & behaviours expected by Millwall Football Club, inside & outside of training and matchdays for our Youth Development Phase players.
  • Leading the plan-do-review process of the U13s training & matchday’s, ensuring delivery of relevant, innovative and enjoyable practices across our U13s and YDP training groups in line with our How We Coach strategy.
  • Ensure all matchday game time & positional strategies are implement for the U13s players.
  • Assist with combined training sessions with YDP players when appropriate.
  • Support the IDP & review process in connection with the lead phase coach to ensure all players receive individually tailored support within the wider program.
  • Implement individual development plans for all U13s players in connection with the multi-disciplinary team. Including review of these players every block.
  • Implement all team training, match minutes & reviews on kitman labs in connection with the multi-disciplinary team.

About The Candidate

Essential Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of UEFA B Licence and Youth Award.
  • Experience in coaching academy football.
  • Experience of leading an academy age group, or assisting at YDP.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and high standards in implementing the academy plan-do-review system.
  • Knowledge and understanding of EPPP requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of player development through the YDP.
  • Organisational qualities to plan, meet deadlines and keep accurate records within administrative tasks.
  • Good communication skills to deliver and support key messages, and sustain positive working relationships with the wider U13s team and YDP staff.
  • The successful candidate shall also display attributes that align with the values of the academy:

  • And finally, from a safeguarding perspective, the successful candidate should be resilient, self-aware and open to sharing information.

 

Desired Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience within other EPPP environments.
  • Previous experience in a lead coaching role within an academy setting.
  • Previous experience in mentoring coaching staff.
  • In depth knowledge of player development strategies.
  • UEFA A Licence.
