Job title: Assistant Head of Academy Recruitment

Based at: Blackburn Rovers Academy, Old Langho, Blackburn, BB6 8BA. Flexibility regarding
location is required.
Reports to: Head of Academy Recruitment
Responsible for: Head of Pre-Academy, Senior Scouts, Talent Scouts and Talent Spotters
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of
duties. This may include evening and weekend work.
Contractual Status: Permanent
Job purpose: To support the Head of Academy Recruitment in delivering the Academy’s
recruitment strategy, managing day-to-day operations and contributing to talent
identification processes.
Duties and
responsibilities:
• To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff and elite
players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
• Assist in the coordination of scouting schedules and recruitment events.
• Supervise and support scouts and spotters in their roles.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting using scouting platforms.
• Liaise with coaches and performance staff to align recruitment with
development needs.
• Contribute to the analysis of recruitment data and player tracking.
• Maintain relationships with external contacts and respond to trial requests.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and ensure compliance with recruitment
protocols.
• Drive the trialist process internally across the various departments and ensure
that all paperwork is submitted to the relevant governing bodies ie EFL,
Premier League & FIFA.
• Compile a database of players from clubs across the North West for the U9-16
age group to identify players released from other clubs or recommended as
acquisitions for compensation.
• Attend games as and when required and complete a set amount of video
games per week vie Wyscout and Eyeball.
Skills required:
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Experience in Academy or grassroots recruitment
• Familiarity with scouting software and data systems
• Understanding of safeguarding and EPPP requirements
Experience
required:
• Knowledge and/or experience of an elite sporting environment;
• Safeguarding awareness; and
• Knowledge of sports science and coaching
