About The Role

Overall Role Responsibilities:

This is an important matchday role. The Ball Team Supervisor will assist in recruiting, training, selecting and supervising of child volunteers acting as Ball Team Members at matches. This role is key in ensuring the continuity and success of professional football matches.

Swansea City Association Football Club Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all those staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Those individuals involved in the supervision and support of children are subject to Enhanced DBS checks which will be undertaken through the club in accordance with the Club’s Safeguarding Policy and DBS protocols.

Requirements of the Role

Responsible to:

Matchday Safety Officer

Key relationships with:

Matchday Safeguarding Officer, Head of Safeguarding, Health and Safety Manager

Responsibility for:

Ball Team Members in preparation for, and during the time they are involved in, match day activities.

Role expectations:

  • Assist in the training, selection and Matchday management of Ball Team Members;
  • Help to ensure all children are informed of their roles; responsibilities; meeting times; and fully briefed before each match;
  • Deal with concerns if they arise;
  • Help maintain a Matchday Log;
  • Help review performance with children at the end of each match and review any concerns;
  • Ensure any accidents or incidents are reported to the Matchday Safeguarding Officer and Matchday Safety Officer and the appropriate forms are completed;
  • Ensure that that the register is maintained and accurate records of Ball Team Members are kept.

Time commitment:

Approximately four hours per match and one hour administration.

This role will involve working weekend and evening matches throughout the season.
