About The Role

Reports into: Head of Education and Player Care
Key relationships:  Phase Lead Coaches, Designated Safeguarding Officer, Medical Staff. 
 
Bradford City Academy is seeking a caring, proactive, and highly organised Player Care Officer (9–16s) to support the personal development and wellbeing of players in the Foundation and Youth Development Phases. This part-time role (15 hours/week) plays a key role in ensuring our young players receive holistic support, both on and off the pitch, to thrive as athletes and individuals.
 
Purpose and Objectives:
Act as a point of contact for players aged 9–16, supporting their emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing and signposting to the appropriate support services. 
Build trusted relationships with players and families through a thorough induction and onboarding process to support a positive developmental experience.
Identify and respond to any concerns relating to player welfare, working in collaboration with the safeguarding team. 
Contribute to the planning and delivery of age-appropriate life skills and personal development events.
- Actively seek feedback from academy players, parents and guardians to ensure that feedback is heard and acted upon aligned to the academy vision. 
- Support the exit strategy and aftercare process, offering players bespoke support as they transition outside of the academy. 
- Build relationships with academy alumni to showcase the exciting opportunities available to players as they transition away from academy football.
- Contribute to the planning and delivering of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion events. 
- Seek educational feedback for all academy players in the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase to ensure that their progress can be tracked and supported where appropriate. 
 
Other requirements:
- Maintain a good understanding of the culture and values of Bradford City Football Club.
- Work within and adhere to all Academy policies and procedures.
- Develop positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders including players, parents and staff. 
- As requested, undertake all other reasonable duties that support the Academy.
 

About The Candidate

Skills and qualifications: 
 
- Experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring, education, or coaching role.
- Experience of working within an academy football setting. 
- Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate, approachable, and trustworthy.
- A satisfactory disclosure from an enhanced DBS.
