About The Role

Academy Analyst

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent, full time (40 hours)

Reports To: Academy Manager

Location: Various SCFC sites across Manchester and Salford

 

The Purpose:

Salford City FC’s Academy is going through an exciting period of growth. Our Academy Analyst will play a key part working closely alongside the Head of Academy Coaching and Lead Phase Coaches to oversee the analysis across all age groups from under 9 to under 21. The role will ensure a continual player and pathway development throughout the Academy, with the key focus of maximising the potential of our Academy players and preparing them for a professional football career.

 

The Role:

  • Responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and deliver feedback and support to players, coaches and the wider multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Film and capture matches home and away throughout the week, working with all squads throughout the Academy.
  • Film and analyse training sessions.
  • Code and edit footage for teams and individuals.
  • Produce pre and post-match presentations for the PDP Phase.
  • Build player profiles using databasing and statistical reporting techniques.
  • Work with the Academy Head of Coaching to contribute to the development of Academy learning resources, including playing philosophy, coaching syllabus and best practice guides.
  • Create age and learning style appropriate education content – relating to team, unit and individual development plans.
  • Help in the production of retain/release videos for players.
  • To ensure all Academy U9 – U21 games are filmed, working with interns to film and analyse games.
  • Participate in research and development that adds value to the Academy.
  • To liaise with loan clubs for player footage in the PDP Phase.
  • Contribute to Academy audits for your own area when required.
  • Ensure communication between staff, players and parents to ensure optimal well-being and development of all youth development phase players.
  • Role model and ensure positive and professional behaviours, ensuring honesty and integrity at all times when working with young players at the Club. This includes being presentable, smart and personable at all times when representing the Club.
  • Ensure you contribute to providing a safe Academy environment, demonstrating safe working practices and follow safeguarding policies and procedures, reporting concerns when necessary.
 

The Essentials:

  • Experience working within an elite playing environment
  • A degree or similar qualification in Sports Science, Sport Studies, Coaching or Performance Analysis
  • Level 2 FA Coaching qualification (desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS Clearance
  • FA Safeguarding qualification
  • Valid safeguarding certificates
  • Experience in undertaking health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

 

The Club actively encourages Continuous Professional Development and would expect the successful candidate to ensure they are keeping updated with new theory and legislation, attend any necessary FA in-service training, and participate in a program of CPD across the Academy’s technical teams.

About The Candidate

  • Experience of working in a sporting environment to provide Performance Analysis support and delivery.
  • A great communicator who is personable and approachable. You will be able to build and maintain relationships with players, parents and coaches with a collaborative approach to work.
  • Extremely organised and methodical, able to work to tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to communicate complex data to a variety of audiences and implement a variety of feedback techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of Apple and Microsoft Office software packages, including experience using

performance analysis software.

 

You will have experience of performance analysis in a sporting environment, particularly in relation to young athletes. You will prioritise their development through the creation of a positive environment that nurtures our individual talent in order to successfully transition players throughout the squads. This role is important to offer additional support within the wider Academy environment to promote the development of well – rounded individuals.

 

With a professional and attentive approach you’ll ensure player needs are met, proactively planning for every eventuality. The role will ensure that the Club adheres to its EPPP obligations, ensuring that Academy analysis operates with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. The role will be key in taking the Academy to the next level, focussing on creating a first-class player experience and setting high standards across every element of a player’s journey.

 

Whilst we want to develop our Academy players as professional footballers, so it is also of vital importance that this role recognises the significance of maximising player potential off the pitch as well as on it; a consideration of the player’s education and welfare is therefore paramount, alongside the successful candidate having the ability to build positive relationships with other Clubs, players, parents, and other internal stakeholders including other coaches, education and welfare staff, and management.

 

You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of behaviour are in place, and ensure that you adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to create a positive and proactive safeguarding culture which gives players a safe and exciting experience.

 

The role requires a high degree of flexibility throughout the week and as such you should be prepared to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis. Flexibility is key due to training and matches potentially changing at short notice.

 

You will need a full, clean driving licence.
