About The Role

JOB PURPOSE

To play a key role in the development of Wrexham AFC Medical Performance team, helping to develop strategies and practices to enhance performance programming and player development.  The role will work collaboratively across sports science, performance and medical to help develop a ‘best in class’, performance department.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead on GPS data collection post training, games and matchdays and presenting this visually to management, players and performance department.
  • Lead on the collection and presentation of wellbeing, player profiling, VBT and other markers as requested.
  • Create and optimise processes for extracting and merging data from varies platforms.
  • Lead and develop front end visuals for the club’s high performance and Sports Science department.
  • Accelerate the use of data driven insights for practitioners via the use of interactive tools (Power Bi / Tableau etc).
  • Lead on research and innovation within football and elite sports across the Medical Performance and Sports Science department (technology / services / AI etc).
  • Deliver physical, gym and recovery sessions as required.
  • Create a structured internal CPD data insights programme for the wider MDT.
  • Lead on high performance insight data integration with Train My Athlete software.
  • Lead short term and long-term data driven projects to help identify current performance trends in elite football.
  • Compile pre-season, in-season and post season testing data and ensure data is collected and presented effectively and efficiently.

About The Candidate

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • BSc / MSc Sport and Exercise Science / Data Analysis / Performance Analysis or relevant subject area.
  • Previous experience working in elite sport.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – SKILLS / ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proficient use of Analytic software packages (Power Bi etc).
  • Desire to strive for marginal performance gains through analysis, collection and visualisation of data.
  • Previous experience with Statsports, VALD technology and associated data points.
  • Demonstrate consistent leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to work in a high pressurised environment with a flexible approach to working hours and job role. 
  • Attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to set and maintain high personal and professional standards.
  • Evidence of being a strong team player.
  • Competent use of IT programmes, data bases, Poer Bi, Tableau and online systems.
  • Ability to display key data visually and extract high level data for performance benefit.
  • Committed to, and an understanding of, equality and diversity in sport.
