About The Role
Role Accountabilities & Key Duties
Coaching Methodology
1 To oversee the implementation of the Club’s game model and coaching methodology across the U9 – U15 age groups.
2 To support the Head of Methodology in the development and monitoring of the Club’s game model and coaching methodology across all phases of the Academy.
3 To work alongside the Head of Methodology in designing age-appropriate coaching curriculums to support the Club’s development strategy.
4 To lead on the design of appraisal systems for all schoolboy training sessions in line with the Club’s methodology and game model.
5 To work collaboratively with Performance, Recruitment, and Analysis staff to ensure there is clear understanding of the methodology and its implementation into the overall strategy and daily decision-making.
6 To support the Head of Methodology in overseeing the Club’s game model document that sets-out the Club’s playing philosophy via written descriptions, images, video, and data.
7 To work closely with Head of Methodology to align the delivery of the Club’s methodology across all phases of the game including set-pieces.
 
Coach Education
8 To create Individual Development Action Plans (DAPs) for every member of the Coaching staff within the Academy.
9 To lead the delivery & implementation of the Coaches Competency Framework (CCF) for all Schoolboy Coaching Staff (U9-U16).
10 To regularly observe schoolboy training sessions and fixtures to ensure that staff are supported with delivery methods.
11 To provide the Academy’s link with the designated FA Youth Coach Developer, ensuring that the training needs assessments of all Academy Coaching Staff are considered.
12 To work with the head of Methodology on the design and delivery of Academy learning and development events.
13 Provide mentoring and support to coaches working within the girls’ structure.
 
Pathway Management
14 To play a key role in the production of schoolboy-developed players ready to for the full-time football.
15 To provide insightful contributions towards the Club’s succession planning meetings.
16 To be a member of the Academy Management Team (AMT), attending all meetings and providing relevant updates.
17 To support the delivery of review meetings with players & parents/carers in line with EPPP requirements.
 
Leadership
18 To work closely with the Academy Director and Head of Methodology to design technical documents to support the Academy’s Performance Plan.
19 To provide line-management and mentoring support to all schoolboy Academy Coaching Staff.
20 To conduct performance appraisals for direct reports.
21 To promote a culture of innovation across the Coaching Department, ensuring that regular research is conducted into new ways of working.
22 To undertake personal CPD as appropriate to meet the demands of the role.
23 To deliver all other duties that may arise from time to time and fall within the scope of this position.
 
Safeguarding
24 To have or develop an impeccable knowledge of safeguarding best practice to include a deep understanding of safeguarding children’s regulations, including legislation & governing body rules.
25 To ensure that any safeguarding or welfare concerns are reporting efficiently.
26 To comply with all company policies/procedures and adhere to all company regulations regarding policies, procedures, health, safety, and security.

Experience of implementing a game model and coaching methodology across a club  x  
Experience of supporting coaches in an elite environment.  x  
Strong understanding of the Academy system (EPPP).  x  
Passionate about long term player development  x  
A track record of supporting young players to make positive transitions to First Team environments  x  
Experience of utilising technical and performance data to support strategic decision-making
 x  
 Strong IT and presentation skills, including experience of working effectively with software packages (e.g. Hudl; Angles; StatsBomb).  x  
Ability to liaise empathetically and effectively with young players, parents, and other key stakeholders  x
