Assistant Coach – York City FC Women in York - EFL (English Football League)

About The Role

York City FC Women are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed Assistant Coach to join the Women’s First Team coaching staff and support the continued development, performance and progression of the team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the First Team Head Coach across training and matchday environments, contributing to the planning and delivery of high-quality sessions and helping to develop a positive, ambitious and high-performance culture.

Working collaboratively with the Head Coach and wider multidisciplinary team, the Assistant Coach will contribute to the implementation of the team's playing philosophy, tactical approach and player development programme.

Key Responsibilities

Support the First Team Head Coach with the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality training sessions.
Deliver coaching sessions and practices aligned with the club's playing philosophy and team game model.
Work closely with the Head Coach and wider MDT to implement the team's tactical, technical and physical programme.
Provide individualised coaching, feedback and support to players to maximise their development and performance.
Support the analysis of training and match performances, identifying areas for team and individual improvement.
Contribute to matchday preparation, including opposition analysis, tactical planning and player feedback where required.
Assist with the organisation and management of training sessions and matchday operations.
Support the Head Coach in maintaining high standards of behaviour, professionalism, discipline and performance.
Contribute positively to the culture, standards and values of York City FC Women.
Maintain appropriate records relating to player development, training and performance.
Ensure all coaching is delivered within a safe, inclusive, professional and player-centred environment.
Support the club's commitment to developing players and promoting the growth of women's football.

Commitment: Training – Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings; Matchdays – Sundays, with occasional midweek fixtures

About The Candidate

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

A minimum UEFA B Licence coaching qualification.
Relevant coaching experience within 11-a-side football.
Experience coaching within a competitive football environment.
A strong understanding of the technical, tactical and physical demands of the modern game.
The ability to plan and deliver structured, engaging and progressive training sessions.
An understanding of game models, playing principles and how to translate these into effective coaching practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to provide clear, constructive and individualised feedback to players.
A professional, positive and player-centred approach.
The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary coaching team.
A commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and player welfare.

Desirable

Experience coaching within women's football, including FAWNL, WSL, PGA or equivalent.
Experience within the FA Women's National League or an equivalent level of football.
Previous first-team, senior or academy coaching experience.
Experience using video and performance analysis to support team and player development.
Experience contributing to tactical planning and opposition analysis.
A strong understanding of the specific demands and standards required within the women's game.
Experience working within a structured performance environment.
