About The Role

Main Responsibilities
  • To support the Lead Professional Development Phase Coach in the implementation and delivery of the academy coaching curriculum.
  • Support the individual development of players holistically across the four corners for all players.
  • Assist the first team goalkeeper coach when requested to do so by the first team
  • To support the development of the goal keepers within in the professional development phase, youth development phase and foundation development phase
  • Design goal keeping curriculum that’s aligned to academy & club playing principles
  • Develop individual development plans for goalkeepers across the academy U15-u18
  • Technical coach support for the Professional Development Phase
  • Maintain a weekly training reporting process with the head of coaching
  • Deliver group and individual weekly performance updates alongside MDT
  • Assist in the evaluation of the weekly performance plans
  • Assist in the supervision, monitoring and evaluation of support staff working with the professional development phase
  • Liaise with parents of the academy players during reviews to discuss performance and development alongside each lead phase coach
  • Assist in the reporting and monitoring of performance, recording, reporting and evaluation of Academy Players in the Professional Development Phase
  • Assist in the monitoring and supervision of the game programme PDP and YDP & FDP
  • Take part in all relevant meetings including in service training, parent’s meetings etc. at the request of the head of coaching and academy manager
  • Show a continuous commitment to personal development through relevant bodies and courses
  • To provide appropriate playing opportunities for all squad players, trialists and young players in coordination with the appropriate staff.
  • Assist in developing and managing the defensive set plays for the academy
  • Contribute to the scouting and recruitment process where appropriate.
  • Undertake personal CPD as appropriate to meet the demands of the role. Work towards maintain qualifications through coach education and continued professional development.
  • Undertake administrative tasks related to the role, designing sessions and updating football intelligence platform, record keeping and database input onto onedrive.
  •  Contribute appropriately to the development of teaching and coaching resources.
  • Undertake pastoral and welfare duties in conjunction with the people & performance / safeguarding, contribute to parent’s meetings, and maintain relationships with parents, teachers and other appropriate persons.
  • Undertake other appropriate duties as directed by the Academy Management.
  • To support and input alongside the Lead PDP coach to review all players in the PDP.
  • To record details of any trial players who attend training sessions on the appropriate form.
  • To attend development days and any other training courses arranged by the club.
  • Alongside PDP Lead to assist players to set individual short- and long-term goals for the future development
  • To abide by all club policies including (but not exclusive to) Safeguarding, Equality and Health & Safety

About The Candidate

  • UEFA B licence
  • UEFA B goalkeeper licence
  • Experience of coaching within the relevant age groups (preferably in an academy/player development environment)
  • Computer skills (Word/ Excel/ Access)
  • High levels of communication skills, both orally and written
  • Personable and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic
  • Sensitive to the needs of young players and parents/guardians
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings
