About The Role

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Provide pitch-side medical cover during training sessions and fixtures.
  • Assess and manage acute and ongoing musculoskeletal injuries within their professional scope of practice.
  • Provide appropriate immediate management of injuries occurring during training and matches.
  • Develop and deliver individualised rehabilitation programmes.
  • Support players through appropriate return-to-training and return-to-play progressions.
  • Provide treatment and rehabilitation as appropriate to the needs of individual players.
  • Maintain clear, accurate and timely medical records, including appropriate clinical and SOAP-style notes.
  • Ensure injuries, treatment, rehabilitation and player availability are appropriately documented.
  • Communicate effectively with the wider medical team, coaching staff and players regarding injury status and rehabilitation.
  • Recognise injuries or presentations that require onward referral or further medical investigation.
  • Follow the club's emergency action procedures, safeguarding policies and medical protocols.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of confidentiality and professional practice.

About The Candidate

Applicants must:

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy.
  • Hold appropriate professional registration relevant to their qualification, such as HCPC registration for Physiotherapists or BASRaT/SST registration for Sports Therapists, where applicable.
  • Have appropriate pitch-side emergency/first aid training relevant to working within sport.
  • Be confident assessing and managing common sporting and musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Have a basic understanding of injury rehabilitation and return-to-play principles.
  • Understand the importance of accurate clinical documentation and be able to maintain appropriate medical and treatment notes.
  • Be comfortable working independently when providing training and matchday medical cover.
  • Have strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Be available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sundays.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK and complete any appropriate safeguarding and DBS requirements.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within football or another team-sport environment.
  • Previous experience providing pitch-side medical cover.
  • Experience planning and delivering gym or pitch-based rehabilitation.
  • FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) qualification.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary sports medicine environment.
