About The Role

U7-U16 Academy Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist:

Plymouth Argyle FC are recruiting an important role within our Academy medical team and are

seeking a committed and detail-oriented Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist to support the delivery of high-quality medical care across the Foundation and Youth Development Phases (U7–U16). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting player health, wellbeing and development within a progressive Academy environment, contributing to injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance support as the Academy continues to evolve.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and pitch-side first aid for U7–U16 Academy players at training sessions and fixtures.

• Design, implement and review individual rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes in

collaboration with coaching staff.

• Provide physiotherapy clinics and ongoing medical support for Academy players.

• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records on the FIP system within required timelines.

• Record, monitor and report injury data, contributing to injury audits and player performance

reviews.

• Implement and maintain Emergency Action Plans and ensure all medical equipment is checked and available.

• Support medical and movement screening programmes across all age groups.

• Deliver education sessions to players and parents on injury prevention, recovery and wellbeing.

• Work collaboratively with performance support, coaching and Academy staff to support player

development and welfare.

About The Candidate

Essential Requirements:

• BSc in Sports Therapy or Physiotherapy.

• Qualified or working towards Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF).

• FA Safeguarding Workshop certification.

• Experience working within a sports or clinical environment.

• Strong understanding of injury prevention, rehabilitation and return-to-play processes.

• Knowledge of safeguarding, duty of care and youth athlete welfare.

 

Desirable:

• Experience working within a professional football academy (FP/YDP).

• HCPC registration and CSP membership.

• Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF).

• MSc in Physiotherapy or Sports Medicine.

• Experience using performance monitoring systems such as GPS and FIP.
