About The Role

Job Summary

The role of Lead Groundskeeper is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of facilities at the Stadium (and other sites as may be applicable).

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan an annual maintenance programme of all Burton Albion sites including
    • Pitch preparation(grass and artificial)
    • General landscaping
    • Routine building maintenance
    • General Landscaping
  • By management of the groundskeeping staff, support planned facility use and ensure required standards are achieved.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of legislation relating to chemicals and dangerous substances.
  • Check facilities, plant buildings and equipment to ensure safe working practices and health and safety legislation compliance.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are correctly stored, maintained and serviced.
  • Actively promote safe practices of self and others.
  • Conduct basic risk assessments, develop contingency plans and be able to respond to emergencies.
  • Ensure the efficient use of resources.
  • All employees may be required to undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested.

  • Take responsibility and care for the health and safety of yourself and other employees and members of the public who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
  • To comply with all aspects of the Club’s Health & Safety Policy and arrangements, to enable the company to perform its civil and statutory obligations in relation to Health & Safety.

    Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures as outlined by the Club; and report any safeguarding or welfare concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer in the first instance.
  • This position required an Enhanced DBS check due to the nature of the work involved.

About The Candidate

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

  • At least an NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Sports Turf or Greenkeeping
  • At least 2 years experience of groundskeeping management within a sports turf environment
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying qualifications

  • Excellent planning, organisation and time management skill with the ability to multi-task and have attention to detail.
  • Reliable; and understands and practices confidentiality.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work to high standards, flexible, with an ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the demands of the role.
