Summary of vacancy
Purpose and objectives:
• To be responsible for the planning, delivery and monitoring of the Club’s Academy
Education programmes, ensuring Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) Apprentices are
progressing appropriately.
• To ensure appropriate welfare and safeguarding measures are in place and that they are
regularly evaluated and implement improvements as identified.
• Ensure that the Academy Education programmes meet the requirements of League
Football Education (LFE), the EFL Youth Development Rules (and as may change from
time to time) and that practice is stretched and challenged in line with the Professional
Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC) Education Standards.
• Be responsible for working with and integrating all academy staff to support a life
enriching experience for all academy players throughout their journey with the Club.
Safeguarding:
• The Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young
people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
• This role involves the supervision of and working with children and young people and is
exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and applicants must disclose all
previous convictions including spent convictions.
Key duties:
• Plan, organise, deliver and monitor the Club Academy Education programs, and create
individual and innovative support programs for academy players.
• Maintain up to date and relevant knowledge and an understanding of the SEP Standard,
BTEC, Functional Skills and UEFA C Coaching qualification.
• Liaise closely with the Club Designated Safeguarding Officer and Head of Player Care to
ensure a safe and inclusive environment for Scholars.
• Build and maintain links with education stakeholders, such as parents, schools/teacher
contacts of the Scholars and other educational agencies.
• Agree and develop an effective education timetable that meets the needs of Scholars.
• Ensure the educational progression of the Scholars is not compromised by their
involvement within the academy.
Other requirements:
• Be an active, engaged and effective member of the Academy team.
• Prepare and deliver reports to the Academy Manager, as asked to do so.
• Maintain a good understanding of the culture and values of Bradford City Football Club.
• Develop positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders including the
Academy Manager and relevant department heads.
• Work collaboratively with the Player Care Manager to support the release of any Scholar.
• As requested by your Line Manager undertake all other reasonable duties that support
the evolving and developing nature of the Club’s Academy.
