About the Team:
Our Coaching Team are passionate about developing talent at all levels, from our youngest Academy members to the first team. Our holistic coaching philosophy emphasises technical skills, tactical awareness, mental resilience, and sportsmanship.
We prioritise open communication with players and their families, providing regular updates on training progress and development opportunities. Join us in elevating the standard of coaching at Sunderland AFC, where every player is encouraged to grow, excel, and love the game!
The Opportunity:
The role involves building strong and supportive relationships with all coaches. Working alongside the Head of Coaching (HOC), you will meet with each coach to collaboratively agree on focus areas to work on throughout the season. You will then create action plans tailored to support each coach according to their individual needs. In collaboration with the HOC and Cell Leads, you will help design a learning and development programme focused on CPD activities that address relevant topics.
You will plan and deliver training sessions in partnership with the Lead coaches, ensuring that every player has the best opportunity to learn and develop within the programme. Additionally, you will support coaches by independently sourcing and reviewing video clips of individual players in relation to their specific learning objectives.
Providing regular health checks and updates on coach progress with the HOC during the 9/18/27/36/45-week intervals is a key responsibility. You will also provide impactful feedback to players to help support their progression. Liaising with parents to foster a collaborative approach will be important, as well as recognising potential complaint situations and taking effective steps to either avoid or resolve them.
