37.5 hours per week plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties. This may include evening and weekend work.

1. Job purpose:

 

Development and delivery of a high quality player care provision throughout the Academy. To support the Head of Education in operational and administrative duties relating to the wellbeing and care of players aged 9-21.

2. Duties and responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·        To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff and elite players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries;

·        To represent ED&I for the Academy by attending meetings and being responsible for ED&I within the Academy;

·        Produce and manage a strategy for the use of temporary and full time Host Families for player accommodation;

·        Support the SEP Coordinator in helping deliver the specific player care elements of the Sporting Excellence Professional Apprenticeship;

·        Support the Head of Education and Player Care in the completion of player care elements on LFE apprenticeship reviews;

·        To liaise with parents in relation to all aspects of player pastoral support;

·        To formally monitor the transition of newly signed players and their induction in the training programme by implementing the Academy transition strategy

·        To lead and manage the Parent and Player voice initiatives disseminating information back into the Senior Management Team at timely intervals;

·        Continue to enhance the Academy’s life skills development programme, leading on organising relevant workshops/awareness weeks;

·        To work closely with the Academy Psychologist to manage the Academy’s Mental & Emotional Wellbeing pathway strategy;

·        Within a multi-disciplinary capacity, monitor initial destinations of players exiting the Academy at Pre 16 and develop the Alumni database for players graduating the apprenticeship, leading on the general after care of players transitioning out;

·        Support the development of an EDI strategy for the Academy that is in line with the clubs overall strategy;

·        To represent ED&I for the Academy by attending meetings and being responsible for ED&I within the Academy.

·        To complete relevant CPD specific to the job roles and responsibilities; and

·        Support the continual update of the education and welfare aims and objectives within the Academy Performance Plan as part of the EPPP.

·        Ensure familiarity with and adherence to the Club Safeguarding Structure and Compliance Plan;

·        Ensure familiarity and compliance with and commitment to Policies and Procedures and other safeguarding documentation as appropriate; seeking feedback from internal stakeholders.

·        Manage and report incidents, disclosures etc. in accordance with Policies and Procedures;

·        Raise awareness of safeguarding practices in your area of responsibility and create a culture of trust and inclusion;

·        Deliver or arrange delivery of awareness training and key messages for your staff and ensure you and your deputy have received adequate training to fulfil your role;

·        Appoint a Deputy to cover absences;

·        Be responsible for providing support to staff involved in an allegation; and

·        To recognise the importance of professional boundaries in working relationships.

·        Ensure robust governance arrangements, policies and procedures are in place for care and accommodation providers and multi-occupancy Club boarding accommodation;

·        Ensure physical and on-line environments – including social media, promote safety and well-being, minimising the opportunity for children and adults at risk to be harmed or exposed to inappropriate or explicit behaviour, materials and on-line content including e-sports competitions/activities;

·        To ensure Safeguarding is considered in all activities for or to be attended by children/adults at risk;

·        Management of the Academy Safeguarding Risk Register ensuring Health & Safety Prevent and Safeguarding Risks are identified and mitigated when planning and delivering activities, and that they are recorded and shared with those who require it to support safe activity planning and/or delivery;

·        To ensure there is an understanding of, commitment to and compliance with the Prevent Duty at the Academy;

·        Robust mental health governance arrangements, policies procedures and training in place at the Academy;

·        To ensure that children and adults at risk are informed about their rights to protection from abuse, mistreatment and exploitation and that reporting lines are clearly promoted and accessible;

·        To ensure safeguarding forms part of a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting Academy players’ transition including sharing of information to support and protect children;

·        To manage safeguarding concerns, liaising with CSO/HR/ Football and statutory authorities as required; and

·        To provide regular updates for the Quarterly Safeguarding Board Report as required.

3. Skills required:

  • Good listening skills (particularly pastorally for players);
  • Good level of analytical skills;
  • Competent use of key IT programmes incl. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as key online systems;
  • Ability to solve problems;
  • Be innovative in thinking and moving the department forward;
  • A “think outside the box” approach to planning and maintaining personal development programmes; and
  • Confidentiality.

4. Knowledge required:

  • Good knowledge of Safeguarding/child protection policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of various training models within the Academy; and
  • Knowledge of the structure of the academy and the different training models used in the delivery of the programme.

5. Qualifications required:

  • Previous experience in Safeguarding and the protection of young children; and
  • FA Safeguarding
