About The Role
Role Summary: 
 

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Portsmouth Football Club as we are seeking to recruit an innovative, forward thinking and hardworking Lead Youth Development Phase Coach.

The role holder will be responsible for the coaching and management of the U15/16 age group at evening sessions, competitive games, as well as supervising their day release programme one day per week. Additionally, they will manage and lead the casual youth development phase coaching staff (U12-U16) and work closely with the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching to implement the coaching curriculum.

Collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Foundation and Professional Development Phase Leads is essential to ensure the Academy delivers on its aim to develop players that are respectful, well-rounded, and who embody the values and behaviours embed across the Academy.

About The Candidate
Your Key responsibilities will include:
 
  • Lead the coaching delivery of the U15/16 squad and provide rationale for pre scholar decisions
  • Ensure agreed processes are monitored and work tasks are completed on time
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and collaborate with MDT staff for curriculum delivery
  • Lead quarterly phase evaluations with casual coaches
  • FIP completion for all YDP age groups to be monitored
  • Conduct annual appraisals with casual coaching staff
  • Casual coaches’ development needs are considered in weekly planning
  • Monitor and evaluate session plans in line with the Academy Framework and YDP Coaching strategy
  • Collaborate with Head of Recruitment to arrange additional games programme for internal player development and external player recruitment
  • Watch YDP matches back on Hudl to build knowledge across the phase
  • Ensure the games programme for U12-16s is suitably arranged via the Academy Secretary and in line with the scheduled EFL Games Programme
  • Continual evaluation and innovation of the phase strategy must be evident
  • The role will be based at the training ground in Portsmouth; however, there will be a need to travel to a variety of venues in and around the city also
  • Right to work in the UK must be held prior to applying
  • Satisfy all DBS and Club Employment checks
Your skills and Experience:
 
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  • UEFA ‘A’ licence 
  • FA EFAiF First Aid Certificate
  • Experience working in a professional football academy with players aged 11-16
  • People Management experience
  • Strong organisational attributes
  • FA safeguarding certificate

    Desirable skills and Qualifications:

  • FA Advanced Youth Award (YDP age preferred)
  • Hudl usage
  • FIP usage
  • Competent user with Microsoft products
  • EPPP experience
